【摘要】:Liquidpenetrantexaminationmethodsindicatethepresence,location,and,toalimitedextent,thenatureandmagnitudeofthedetecteddiscontinuities.Thispracticeisintendedprimarilyforportabilityandforlocalizedareasofexamination,utilizingminimalequipment.Surfaceroughnessmaybealimitingfactor.Ifso,analternateprocess,suchaswater-washvisibleorpost-emulsifiedpenetrantshouldbeconsideredwhengrindingormachiningisnotpractical.1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresforvisiblepenetrantexaminationutilizingthesolvent-removableprocess.Itisanondestructivetestingmethodfordetectingdiscontinuitiesthatareopentothesurfacesuchascracks,seams,laps,coldshuts,laminations,isolatedporosity,throughleaks,orlackoffusionandisapplicabletoin-process,final,andmaintenanceexamination.Itcanbeeffectivelyusedintheexaminationofnonporous,metallicmaterials,bothferrousandnonferrous,andofnonmetallicmaterialssuchasglazedorfullydensifiedceramicsandcertainnonporousplasticsandglass.1.2Thispracticealsoprovidesareference:1.2.1Bywhichavisiblepenetrantexaminationmethodusingthesolvent-removableprocessrecommendedorrequiredbyindividualorganizationscanbereviewedtoascertainitsapplicabilityandcompleteness.1.2.2Foruseinthepreparationofprocessspecificationsdealingwiththevisible,solvent-removableliquidpenetrantexaminationofmaterialsandparts.Agreementbythepurchaserandthemanufacturerregardingspecifictechniquesisstronglyrecommended.1.2.3Foruseintheorganizationofthefacilitiesandpersonnelconcernedwiththeliquidpenetrantexamination.1.3Thispracticedoesnotindicateorsuggeststandardsforevaluationoftheindicationsobtained.Itshouldbenoted,however,thatafterindicationshavebeenproduced,theymustbeinterpretedorclassifiedandthenevaluated.Forthispurposetheremustbeaseparatecode,specification,oraspecificagreementtodefinethetype,size,location,anddirectionofindicationsconsideredacceptable,andthoseconsideredunacceptable.1.4Allareasofthispracticemaybeopentoagreementbetweenthecognizantengineeringorganizationandthesupplier,orspecificdirectionfromthecognizantengineeringorganization.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsareregardedasstandard.SIunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
